Toto Wolff has run Mercedes since 2013 and is the most public face of any constructor on the grid. He owns a third of the team.

The team that defined the hybrid era, and is rewriting itself for 2026.

Mercedes returned to F1 as a works team in 2010 and, between 2014 and 2021, won eight straight constructors’ titles in what is the most dominant team era in the sport’s history. The hybrid V6 turbo engine introduced in 2014 was simply better than anyone else’s, and Lewis Hamilton drove it.

The 2022 ground-effect rules ended that streak. The team has been climbing back ever since, anchored on engineering depth and the long view: their reset for the 2026 power-unit regulations is the bet that matters now.

If you watch Toto Wolff on the pit wall, you’re watching a Vienna-born former racer turned co-owner explain F1 strategy in real time. He is unusually transparent for a principal. Listen on the team radio.
