Williams is one of the great names in F1: nine constructors’ championships, the home of Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill, and Jacques Villeneuve through the 90s. Founder Frank Williams ran the team from a wheelchair after a 1986 road accident, with technical director Patrick Head as his engineering counterpart.

The team was sold by the Williams family in 2020 after a long financial decline, and James Vowles, formerly chief strategist at Mercedes, took over as principal in 2023. His job is a multi-year rebuild of the team’s tools, processes, and culture from the ground up.

Williams’s racing blue is a callback to the dominant FW14B of 1992, still considered one of the best F1 cars ever built. Carlos Sainz joined for 2025 as the experienced lead driver in the rebuild.
